After departing Jackson, we’ll drive north through Grand Teton National Park while transiting to Yellowstone, making several stops to take photos, admire wildlife, and take advantage of the Flagg Ranch restrooms. Using bathrooms with running water is simply how we roll. We’ll then enter Yellowstone through the South Entrance just a little before 9 AM. From there, we’ll continue driving north to West Thumb Geyser Basin, then to the famous Lake Yellowstone Hotel for a short coffee break. We’ll continue traveling north from the hotel to admire the Mud Volcano, Hayden Valley, and the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone before taking a lunch break at Canyon Village. Continuing west from Canyon, we’ll explore Fountain Paint Pots and Grand Prismatic Hot Spring. We’ll cap the day with a visit to the Old Faithful Inn and see Old Faithful gush in all her glory.
4-Hour Morning Kayak on Yellowstone Lake with Lunch
A morning paddle on Yellowstone Lake is a great way to start the day before moving on to afternoon activities. We begin the tour at 8AM to beat the wind and waves that can form later in the day. Morning is the best time of the day to spot wildlife. Your kayak instructor will provide a safety briefing and introduce your group to the kayaks and paddle strokes. The tours have a ratio of 6-guests-to-1-guide. The minimum age to join this tour is 14. Once underway, we journey from the Grant Village Marina to the West Thumb Geyser Basin, weather permitting. The sight of the steaming geyser basin forms a lifelong memory. Enjoy the big mountain views of the Absaroka Range across the lake. Getting out on the water is a unique way to experience the Park. Our tours are fun! But we also have a passion for the Park and enjoy sharing information about the flora, fauna, and history of the region. Please, come enjoy a day on the waters of Yellowstone Lake with Yellowstone Hiking Guides.
