Our meeting time of 8:30 is the optimal time as we are one of the first to get on and usually get back before the strong afternoon winds pick up. The Lower Loop tour begins in Gardiner, Montana and begins heading south. Depending on external conditions, guide recommendation, and client preference, we can head either way around the loop.. We have extensive experience in navigating popular features and making it easier to fit them into our itinerary. From here, we make our way to some incredible thermal features and many of the most popular thermal basins. After a morning of visiting many of the thermal features between the Midway and Lower Basins, we'll head to the most iconic feature in Yellowstone, Old Faithful. From there we will travel over Craig Pass to Yellowstone Lake. Stopping at the West Thumb Thermal Basin; a thermal basin with unique structure and history. Then we will travel past Fishing Bridge. Next passing through Hayden valley to the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone, visiting the Upper and Lower Falls, and Artisan's Point. From there the tour returns to Gardiner, Montana, additional destinations may be possible.

3 Hour Paddle

We begin our 3 hour paddle of the West Thumb Geyser basin at 8:30 AM. We will traverse 3 miles of wilderness with the opportunity to view active geyser features along the way. Paddling along the shoreline allows for the best wildlife viewing opportunities. Elk are often spotted in Grant Village and sometimes other mammals such as bears and wolves frequent the lake area. A variety of bird species are spotted daily and the water is clear enough to see the native Cutthroat Trout as big as your arm if you're lucky enough. ;) The fish can get quite large in Yellowstone Lake.

Today we'll be touring Yellowstone's upper, or northern loop, including visiting the best location in the lower 48 states to see wildlife! There are frequent stops along the way!

Starting in West Yellowstone, we'll travel along the Grand Loop Road until we get to Canyon Village, where we'll head north, climbing up Dunraven Pass towards Mount Washburn. The tour passes through good grizzly bear terrain before stopping at Tower Falls. The Lamar Valley, Yellowstone's prime area for wildlife viewing, is the next major destination, followed by Mammoth Hot Springs. There is almost always an elk herd to be seen at Mammoth, along with the famous terraces and historic Fort Yellowstone.

Roaring Mountain is on the way to Norris Geyser Basin, which is made up of two separate geyser basins and includes the world's highest active geyser.

Time permitting, other locations at which we may stop include Calcite Springs, Undine Falls, and Obsidian Cliff.

Yellowstone's lower (or southern) loop is one of the most amazing places on earth, with more geysers, hot springs and other thermal features than literally anywhere else on earth! Old Faithful, the world's most famous geyser, is there, as is another iconic sight, Grand Prismatic Spring! Talking of iconic, Yellowstone is known for its bison, and we'll do our best to get you stuck in one of our unforgettable bison jams!

This hike has spectacular scenery from start to finish, encompassing two major waterfalls, a big river, the magnificent Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, and a trail that cuts in and out of a forest! We'll pass right next to the top of the Upper Yellowstone Falls, where you feel you can just about touch the thundering water as the Yellowstone River plunges into the canyon below! The Lower Yellowstone Falls is the other large waterfall we'll visit, and if the group is up to the steep climb back up, we'll take the path to the brink of the lower falls. We'll see other, smaller, waterfalls along the trail, as we meander through a forest of lodgepole pine trees. You'll find that the vistas are amazing, and the main viewpoints we will stop at include Grand View Point, Lookout Point and Inspiration Point. The trail is about 3.3 miles or 5.3 kilometres long, and depending how often we stop, and the side trails we take, the hike should take 2.5 to four hours, excluding the drive there and back.

The South Rim of the Grand Canyon trail is one of Yellowstone's most spectacular shorter hikes. The trail is about 1.7 miles (2.8 kilometers) long, and makes its way in and out of a forest, as it follows the Yellowstone River through the majestic Grand Canyon of Yellowstone. We'll take in two spectacular waterfalls along the way, Yellowstone's Upper Falls and Yellowstone's Lower Falls. The hike ends at the aptly named Artist Point, which provides the best views of the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone.

Note that there are some small inclines and descents on this trail, which is at elevation.

We're actually headed out before sunrise to look for grizzly bears and wolves. We'll be spending the day in a place that has been carefully preserved where wild predators still thrive. On this trail, you walk alongside more waterfalls, cascades, and rapids than on any other Yellowstone day hike! The hike takes place in a remote part of Yellowstone National Park, all the way down in the southwest corner, not too far from the Bechler Ranger Station, where law enforcement rangers patrol on horseback rather than in SUVs!

We'll drive through eastern Idaho to Cave Falls, on the Fall River, where we will park and take a stroll to the bottom of Yellowstone's widest waterfall, before taking a trail alongside the Fall River towards Bechler Falls. The scenery is really stunning as we make our way to the confluence of the Fall and Bechler Rivers before cutting inland and climbing up an incline through a forest for a while. We'll pick up the Bechler River again and continue to Bechler Falls. After exploring and admiring the views, we'll return along the same trail. We'll enjoy a sack lunch along the way or back at Cave Falls.

MAMMOTH HOT SPRINGS AND LAMAR VALLEY stand out in the upper loop of Yellowstone, because of their volcanic and glaciation history. Every hundred years or so, the hot springs migrate from one spot to another and always leave behind calcium carbonate. You could hike up the travertine terraces. Sometimes elk hang out in the village unafraid of people.

Lamar Valley could have been carved out by glaciers thousands of years ago. Now what is left behind is boulders that must have also been moved by glaciers. You will see them strewn around before you get to Lamar Valley proper. The soil in Lamar is suitable for lush grass that you will see. And that attracts bison, pronghorn, elk. But it also attracts wolves and Grizzlies that want to have the other animals previously mentioned for meal.

Besides these two attractions, you will also see Tower Falls as well as Calcite Springs which oozes with super hot sulfuric oil. With time left, we shall take you to the petrified tree.

This guided kayaking tour in Yellowstone National Park, includes an introduction to Yellowstone's history and geology of the Lake, along with the kayaking equipment and techniques, then your guides lead you around the shoreline to the West Thumb Geyser Basin where there are many geothermal features on land and under water we will explore from our kayaks, many of which are not accessible by any other means.
