St. Kitts Half-Day Rainforest Tour

Best of St. Kitts Tour
As you travel through Basseterre, your tour guide will point out the historical sites of Berkeley Memorial, Immaculate Conception Catholic Cathedral, Independence Square, and The War Memorial. Upon arrival at Romney Manor, you will set foot on grounds dating back to the 1600s. Located at Romney Manor is the largest living organism in St. Kitts, a 400-year-old Saman tree. Adjacent to Romney Manor is Wingfield Estate which was owned by the great-great-great grandfather of Thomas Jefferson. Caribelle Batik, a producer of fine batik products is located at Wingfield Estate. Wingfield Estate is one of four places on St. Kitts that has a 17th century Amerindian petroglyphs. The Wingfield watershed is a natural resource that deposits water into the Wingfield River, that provides the island with a portion of its water requirement. The next stop is Brimstone Hill Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. South Friars Beach is the final stop on the tour.

Journey of Discovery
Our Journey of Discovery begins at the designated meeting point in Port Zante. In 15 minutes, you will learn about the history of Port Zante and historic downtown Basseterre, French for "Low land", including some of her iconic landmarks such as the St. George Anglican Church and the Church of the Immaculate Conception. From there discover the secrets of the Wingfield Estate in Old Road, the oldest sugar plantation in the Caribbean. Explore the old ruins for thirty minutes. See the lush, verdant Rainforest with Mount Liamigua in the distance. The highlight of the Tour is a visit to the Amazing Grace Experience in Sandy Point where there is more to discover. The poor treatment of slaves transported by John Newton from Africa to St. Kitts for sale in the slave market at Independence Square affected him so much, that he got the inspiration to pen this most beloved hymn Amazing Grace. Just imagine the stories it could tell. Many visitors return time and time again to savor this memorable experience. The present owner feels more a sense of stewardship than ownership, recognizing the magnificent Saman tree as the true owner of all its surveys.
Volcano Caldera (Mt. Liamuiga) Trek
On the Volcano Caldera Trek you get to hike up every tier of the volcanic cone and you are almost guaranteed to get a bit dirty as you hike, explore, climb and pull yourself to the Caldera of mount Liamuiga. This trek starts at 750ft above the Caribbean Sea and has the perfect back drop with an amazing view of the sweeping landscape down to the Caribbean Sea. The memorable thing with this tour is that you will actually witness the changes in the tropical succession stages as you ascend higher and higher towards the caldera. You will feel the temperature drop, you will see the changes in vegetation, and you will experience the increasing incline as you get closer and closer to the caldera. It is truly a once in a live time trek to experience and once at the top your breath will be taken away by the stunning view while you stand 2800ft above the Caribbean Sea and 600ft above the bottom of the volcanic crater with a rim opening to almost one mile away.
