We get to the starting point by following national route 3 for about 17 kilometers; we begin the hike at the trail’s parking lot, which quickly takes us deep into the forest. The trail takes us close to a beaver dam and crosses the valley until finding a peat bog, where it will follow the Esmeralda river all the way to its source in the Esmeralda lagoon. After a final climb, we will get to the lagoon: frozen in the winter and dazzling us with its stunning color during the summer. If the weather is good enough, we will have lunch by the lagoon with a breathtaking view of the Albino glacier, the lagoon, and the surroundings. Afterward, we will take the same trail back to the transfer that will take you to your hotel.

The trailhead is only 15 minutes from the city, where the peat bog begins, and multiple wild trails that become more and more challenging appear. After crossing a river, the path goes deeper into the Fuegian forest, where lengas and guindos accompany you as you move towards the tree line in a 600-meter elevation gain climb. The last part of the trail takes place on high-mountain terrain with a challenging incline that finishes when we get to Tempanos lagoon. If the weather is favorable and if the group of hikers is in good condition, we will go around the lagoon to approach the Vinciguerra glacier and look at its cracks and moulins. Afterward, we will take the same trail back to the transfer that will take you to your hotel.
