Ireland has perhaps, more than its fair share of ghost stories and few are more persistent than the grim tale of Connemara's haunted Bog Road. Take this scary tour to see if the tales are real? The Bog Road was originally the main road to Galway before the founding of Clifden. A guesthouse on the road, was the scene of many gruesome murders, which has given rise to many tales, mostly tall… As one version of the story goes, there was a hostelry here called the Halfway House. Back in the 1790s, it was run by a brother and sister who made a business of welcoming solo travellers and then murdering them, (at the stroke of midnight…naturally) and disposing their bodies in the surrounding bog lakes and pocketing their belongings. It is believed to be ghosts of these hapless victims - whose bodies the ghoulish siblings fed to the windswept bog land - which give this lonely stretch of road its spectral reputation - the tale of the Red-Haired Girl at the Inn is a folklore classic….
