Blue Lake Cave

Blue Lake Cave is one of the main postcards of Bonito and certainly one of the most beautiful scenarios in Brazil. It is one of the largest flooded cavities on the planet and visiting it is a true journey to the origins of the region. The lake is crystal clear and the bluish color that makes it famous is due to a combination of factors, such as the location of the cave and the presence of minerals at its bottom. In the early hours of the morning the blue is even more intense. In addition to its beauty, the place also impresses with the whim of nature in every detail. The presence of stalactites and stalagmites, rock formations that typically occur inside caves, are the result of the sedimentation and crystallization of minerals dissolved in the water. A curiosity is that no one knows for sure the exact depth of the lake. The origin of its waters is also a mystery, but it is believed that there is an underground river that feeds it.
