A glimmering city of bright bridges, ancient castles and fascinating palaces and promenades, Budapest is the capital of Hungry and has often been referred to as the "Paris of the East" through its long and colourful history.

Budapest is the combination of two former cities, the hilly west side of Buda and the flatlands of Pest, with the majestic and mighty river Danube cutting a striking scene between the two until their unification in 1873.

Visit the Great Market Hall

Built way back in 1897, this indoor market hall is not only beautiful to behold, with multi-coloured roof tiles and towering steel girders, but is also a great place to try out some of Hungary's local cuisine. With fresh local dishes like lángos prepared every day, as well as some great tourist items, this is the perfect place to while away some of your hours.

Enjoy the view from St Stephen's Basilica

Stand in awe at the beautiful interior of this inspiring Roman Catholic cathedral which is named after the first king of Hungary. If you can, why not climb the 300 steps to the top of the Basilicas gallery area, which offers some of the best views in all of Budapest.

Explore the majestic Castle District

Budapest's castle district is a symbolic addition to the city’s skyline and you can take the railway car up the castles steep embankment to explore this fairy-tale castle hill area. Explore the Royal Palace, Castle Museum, and the house of Houdini, all within the walls of this fantastic district.

Take the time to enjoy the fantastic views of the Pest district from the elegantly carved Fishermen's Bastion or try and catch the musical tolling of the bells at the towering Matthias Church.

Get lost amongst Budapest infamous Ruin Bars

A fantastic collection of vibrant and bustling bars that have been built with formally abandoned industrial sections within the city, the ruin bars of Budapest have to be the best place to kick back with a local beer or fancy cocktail.

Make sure to visit the original ruin bar Szimpla Kert which regularly hosts live DJs and fantastic band performances, as well as having several excitingly themed bars across the multiple floors of its old dilapidated former residential building.

Relax in the soothing waters of the Széchenyi Baths

The Széchenyi Baths of Budapest are one of the city’s most famous attractions and are well worth a visit during your trip! Constructed in 1913, this massive thermal spring heated pool complex has several indoor and outdoor pools which are full of fantastic minerals that help to rejuvenate the body and soul, helping you feel refreshed for your day ahead.

Stand in awe of the enormous Heroes Square

A central part of Budapest, Heroes Square is a massive, monumental square in the heart of the city and you can see the enormous Millennium Memorial which stretches high into the skyline. The square is also surrounded by the Museum of Fine Arts on the left and the Palace of Art on its right side, making it the perfect place for art lovers to spend a day learning about the city's uniquely bohemian art scene.
