The hidden gem recently discovered, beaches and the coral reef
Picture this: a slice of paradise where every moment feels like a celebration with your closest pals. That's the magic I found in Vinh Hy. As we cracked open cold drinks under the warm sun, surrounded by breathtaking scenery, time seemed to stand still. I couldn't help but dream of making this place my daily office, basking in the sunshine while working remotely by the beach, letting life unfold at its own pace.
Sure, I may not have that "FU" money just yet, but the joy I experienced in Vinh Hy was priceless. If you're planning a trip to Vietnam, don't miss the chance to escape to this hidden gem for a few blissful days. Trust me, you won't regret it.
Nestled along the route from Nha Trang to Mui Ne lies the picturesque bay of Vinh Hy. It wasn't until a decade ago that the landscape saw a remarkable transformation with the establishment of Amanoi, a luxurious resort that instantly propelled Vinh Hy into the spotlight it rightly deserves.
Prior to Amanoi's arrival, Vinh Hy was a quaint fishing community, relying primarily on its marine resources for sustenance. However, the resort brought forth a new era of opportunity for the locals, as tourism became a significant source of income.
Thankfully, Vinh Hy has managed to preserve its tranquility amidst the influx of visitors. Unlike bustling tourist hubs like Nha Trang and Mui Ne, where crowds of tourists clad in flashy attire disrupt the serenity, Vinh Hy remains an oasis of calm. Here, tourism is intimate, attracting small groups of friends, divers, and backpackers in search of pristine, quiet beaches. It's a haven where nature's beauty is cherished, and the authentic charm of the bay shines through.
We settled into a cozy hostel, each with our own separate room, offering comfort at an unbeatable price of around $20 per night, courtesy of a booking site deal. Later, we indulged in a dinner featuring a delectable fish dish, albeit a tad pricey at $20.
The following day, we embarked on a boat excursion to a beach that promised tranquility, albeit marred by scattered plastic bottles, a disheartening sight that clashed with the natural beauty surrounding us. It's disheartening to witness such disregard for the environment, especially in a place as stunning as this.
Nevertheless, our journey to the beach was swift, allowing us ample time to capture countless photographs and immerse ourselves in the crystal-clear waters. We spent approximately an hour swimming and exploring the mesmerizing coral reef—an experience beyond compare. Our adventure came at a reasonable cost, with each person contributing $8-12 for the boat ride, led by a friendly local driver who even treated us to a thrilling session of plastic stand-up paddleboarding. With the five of us pitching in, we split the fare evenly, making it a mere $10 per person—a small price to pay for such unforgettable memories.
While the culinary offerings may not be as budget-friendly as those in Nha Trang, we found the selection to be satisfactory, albeit lacking in affordable seafood options beyond the pricey fish dish. Nevertheless, Vinh Hy proved to be a delightful destination for indulging in activities such as diving, photography, and simply unwinding on vacation.
