I accidentally picked the most interesting hostel in Mui Ne
Our final stop on our journey was Mui Ne, just before heading back to Saigon for the Tet Holiday. Initially, I had planned to stay somewhere near Mui Ne Cape, but a mix-up with the booking dates led me to scramble for a last-minute accommodation. By stroke of luck, I ended up booking a hostel that was not only the most budget-friendly option but also conveniently closer to Mui Ne than Phan Thiet, a place I wasn't keen on staying. To my surprise, the hostel experience turned out to be a delight. Despite its distance from the cape, it was nestled close to some fantastic cafes and affordable, tasty eateries. What's more, it was just a brief 5-minute stroll from a lively bar—a decision I was genuinely grateful for. Sometimes, the unexpected turns out to be the most rewarding.
Bonnie Homestay - Mũi Né
Allow me to introduce you to Lilu and her boyfriend, a vibrant Vietnamese-American couple who played the role of the most engaging and hospitable hosts on our trip. Their homestay, nestled deep within a neighborhood, felt like a hidden gem, with Lilu residing in her own home adjacent to the hostel. For her, running the hostel was more than just a business—it was a passion project, a gateway to encountering new people, cultures, and tales from around the globe. Upon checking in, we ventured out for some delicious kebabs. Upon our return to the hostel, we found ourselves drawn to the large table in the yard—a communal space that served as a gathering spot for guests hailing from various corners of the world. Here, amidst animated conversations and shared laughter, we soaked in the diverse tapestry of cultures.
Lilu proudly introduced herself as an art dealer, while her boyfriend, a skilled construction worker, diligently tended to the upkeep and expansion projects of the facility. As we sat at the table, she gestured toward the expansive yard behind us, currently undergoing transformation with the addition of verandas, pools, and bungalows—a testament to their vision for the hostel's future. As the evening wore on and the laughter continued, Lilu suggested we explore a nearby tropical bar, just a short walk away. With a DJ spinning tunes and affordable drinks flowing, it proved to be the perfect ending to the day.
The following morning, we awoke to savor a truly exceptional cup of coffee—rivaled only by the renowned brews of La Viet in Da Lat. With the sun warming our skin and the gentle breeze from the beach beckoning, we savored our final moments in Mui Ne. Before departing, we indulged in a leisurely lunch at the nearby kebab bistro, conveniently located just 800 meters from the coffee shop. In Lilu's vibrant corner of the world, every moment was infused with warmth, hospitality, and a touch of adventure.
Now, the coffee shop sits nestled within a charming courtyard, offering a serene escape for coffee aficionados and foodies alike. Adjacent to it, you'll find a delightful bistro serving up an array of international cuisines, adding yet another layer of allure to Bonnie Homestay's already stellar reputation. With such enticing dining options just steps away, Bonnie Homestay has truly cemented its status as a culinary hotspot. But that's not all—thanks to its proximity to the pristine and inviting beach, this hostel offers guests the perfect trifecta of comfort, convenience, and coastal beauty. Whether you're seeking a cozy bed for the night or simply craving a memorable meal and a good cup of coffee, Bonnie Homestay ticks all the boxes, making it an irresistible destination for travelers seeking a slice of paradise.
