The Landscape of Light is the public space that occupies the Paseo del Prado and the Buen Retiro, for more than 500 years it has been used by Madrid residents as a space for leisure, culture and rest. For this reason it is part of the exclusive list of Cultural Landscapes, World Heritage Site (UNESCO). There are 190 hectares occupied by green areas and historic buildings, monumental fountains, public institutions and cultural spaces of high social interest. (Prado Museum, Reina Sofia, Thyssen, Botanical, Royal Astronomical Observatory). Also institutions such as the Congress of Deputies, the Royal Academy of Language, the Madrid Stock Exchange, the Royal College of Physicians, the Bank of Spain, and the Buenavista Palace. Also religious buildings, such as the Church of the Jerónimos or the Church of the Virgin of Atocha. That is to say: in this space is what we are as a society. Our heritage.
