On this trip we combine the excitement of snowmobiling with experiencing the northern lights dancing across the sky. We take you along the old postal road up to the very edge of Finnmarksvidda to a mountain range called Beskardes. Far away from the lights of the city this trip provides the ideal conditions to see the northern lights in a beautiful winter landscape. If we are lucky we will get to see the magnificent northern lights dancing across the sky on our trip, or be treated with a beautiful arctic night sky.

Driving snowmobile is a great way to experience freedom and it is an activity that we really enjoy to offer. We arrange organized guided tours since 2007 and have the knowledge about the area and the best way to explore it. We will take you to breathtaking places with incredible and different views where we can stop and take some pictures. If we are lucky we can also meet a reindeer herd in their traditional migration over the mountain plateau.
Evening Tour and Aurora Borealis Sightseeing in Norway by ATV
We dress up in warm clothes and get a briefing on how the ATV you will use works. When this is done, we get on the ATV and start our hunt for the Northern Lights! We follow the coastal road out towards the wild coast, where we have a good overview and good opportunities to see the magic northern lights if the weather is with us. The trip lasts about five hours, but if the northern lights are fantastic, we will stay until everyone is satisfied! Transport from all hotels in Alta, the docks, and the tourist office to the starting point is included.

We offer a tour for a small group to enjoy togetherness and excitement while hunting for Northern Lights in the beautiful landscapes of the Alta Fjord. We arrange organized guided tours since 2007 and have the knowledge about how to find the Northern Lights if the conditions are there. On our tours you normally will have 80-90 % chance of seeing this spectacular view. You will be offered a reindeer skin to lay on. While enjoying the great outdoors and waiting for the green lady, we will share with you local stories about Norwegian way of living and the local history from the Stone Age, Sami culture, reindeer-herding, wildlife, Second World War and the modern society in Alta and Finnmark. During the tour we serve a taste of warm and cold snacks and beverages (alternative to vegans, etc.). We are normally back in Alta Center just over midnight.

On this trip we take you outside of Alta to our historical, 150 year old mountain lodge in Gargia valley. After preparing you for the adventurous ride ahead we take you along the old postal road up to the very edge of Finnmarksvidda to a mountain range called Beskades. This is to give you an understanding of how it occurs, then we look at the conditions for this particular evening. We use our local knowledge to find the best places to experience the Northern Lights dancing in the night sky. Our guides will try their best to find the northern lights for you, but as the lights are a natural phenomenon we cannot guarantee you will see them
Fjord and Whale Safari Tour
In winter, whales come to the herring-rich fjords in northern Norway to hunt. This is a unique opportunity to experience the whales up close while exploring the beautiful Fjords of northern Norway. You will get to enjoy the beautiful winter skies, while surrounded by mountains and the fjords wildlife. Once on the boat we will make our way out into the fjords to look for humpback whales and Orcas. We will keep a safe distance and turn off our boat engines to minimize the disturbance to the whales. The whales are just as curious about visitors as we are about them, so they will most likely come and swim around our boat. Please note that while we try our best, we can not guarantee that we will actually see whales on the trip. The season start and end date can be adjusted according to whale migration patterns. The transfer to the harbor takes approximately 1.5 hours each way and is included in the tours total time. Actual time on the boat is approximately 3.5 hours.
Historical Snowmobile Tour Across Finnmarksvidda
Join us for a ride along Norway's longest historical postal route. While the route was operated in the 19th century 30 different reindeer herding families got their mail delivered to them along this road. You will get a glimpse of what it used to take to deliver a mail up here in the sometimes-harsh, rough conditions of the arctic. We will take you on journey, following part of the original route between Gargia and Suolovuopmi Mountain Lodge. This trip gives you an exhilarating way of exploring the arctic scenery just right outside our doorstep. While driving through the magical winter landscape, there is a possibility to see wildlife as well. Once we reach the highest point of the plains you will be impressed by the vast views that Europe’s largest mountain plateau has to offer.
4 hour Winter Adventure Includes Snowshoe Trip and Visiting the Ice Hotel
Join us on a snowshoe trip and experience the Arctic nature on foot. Meet your guide at our Explorer store in the center, we dress you in the right clothes and equip you with a pair of snowshoes. From here we take a 30min drive in our new environmentally friendly electric van through the beautiful nature around Alta until we get to our final destination Gargia Lodge, our outpost in a valley south of Alta. When we arrive Gargia we will get our gear on and have a nice 45-60 min walk in beautiful nature, surrounded by pine- and birch forest in the beautiful Gargia Valley. After our walk we will come back to the Lodge, where we will sit around the fireplace and have a coffee and traditional Norwegian waffle cake, while our guide will tell you stories about the local culture and the area around Alta. On the return to Alta we will make a stop to visit the famous ice hotel Sorrisniva, with its beautiful ice art and sculptures. A bucket list experience, which is great for taking photos.

The light has also been given many names and one of the names the Sami use for the light is Guovssahas, meaning the light that can be heard. The dry and stable climate in Alta provides the best conditions for being able to see the northern lights. On this trip you can enjoy the search for the magical light and enjoy the beautiful arctic nature and wilderness at the same time.

This is sledding on wheels. this is a great experience while we waited for the snow to come back. When you arrive at the kennel you will be given a cover for your clothes to protect them, you will also be given shoes to wear in the kennel. you get to meet all the dogs and the dogs love cuddles. After this, we start out with the carts when we have prepared the dogs we will be taking with us. When we return after the trip, there is more time to cuddle with the dogs. and you can ask about everything you want to know about dog keeping and how we do this with so many dogs A guide drives and you sit on it; this is for the safety of the dogs and you. The trip starts from the kennel, and we drive in the forest in the Alta Valley before we follow the Alta River. Here, you will enjoy the view of the mountains, forest, and Alta River. We cannot offer this tour if the temperature is above +15 degrees. Our dogs don't like to work in hot weather
