Setting off from Korcula we'll pass beautiful countryside, local vineyards and olive groves whilst enjoying fantastic views of the village, archipelago and the Peljesac channel. You will then visit two family-run wineries to refresh & reward yourself with delicious wine grown in the area, including two tastings of the unique white wine Grk, found only in Lumbarda. Accompanying your wine tasting, traditional appetisers will also be served at one winery.

After transferring from Korcula to Lumbarda we will first take a walk around the vineyards. We then stop at two wineries to taste wines from the region including Grk and Plavac Mali. At the first winery, you can enjoy traditional appetisers and feast on a delicious pasta dinner at the second. To round off the tour, we will take a final stroll through the vineyards of Lumbarda to enjoy a drink on the beach or take a peaceful boat trip back to Korcula, sipping on sparkling wine as we go (depends upon availability and number of participants).

Enjoy not only a fantastic bike ride through Korcula’s beautiful countryside but also stop at three local producers.

Heading away from Korcula towards Lumbarda by bike, our first stop is at one of the region’s top honey producers. Back on our bikes we take to a picturesque country trail before finding ourselves at a top winery where we will sit down and enjoy several wines, accompanied by Dalmatian snacks. Our final stop takes us to the home of our friend Ivan. Here we will try award-winning jams, along with homemade liquors, wine, sweet treats & olive oil. We finish with crepe style pancakes, before transferring back to Korcula by van.

Discover the spells of the island of Korčula, one of the most beautiful islands in the Adriatic. Originally called Korkyra Melaina ( Black Korčula), it dates from the times of ancient Greeks. From its early beginnings it was the home of wine grape and wine production which have become an essential part of life and survival of inhabitants of Korčula. The Statute from 1214 ( the oldest written body of laws in this part of Europe) regulated wine growing, production and trade on the island. Korčulan wines were exported to Venice and they were regularly served on the Habsburg Court.
Our excursion starts at the view point of Korčula, where you can take a couple of photos. The first vinyards we are going to visit are situated in Lumbarda and are famous for Grk, an autochtonous wine sort.. It is not known whether the name derives from the bitter taste or the old Greeks who settled Lumbarda in the fourth and the third century before Christ bringing their own wine sort. ......

Starting from the center of Vela Luka we'll pass thru the old part of town and quickly enter pine forest's pleasant shade. On the southern slopes of Pinski rat hill, overlooking the town and the bay of Vela Luka, we will find one of the most important prehistoric archeaological sites in Europe. Layers of findings in Vela Spila cave reveal details covering a period of over 25 000 years of human inhabitance. Pots, tools, artistry, animal bones and burial grounds offer insight into changes in human lives during climate and geological turmoils that marked the end of Ice Age.

The distance we will cover is about 3.5 kilometers, with 150 meters of altitude gain (about 2.2 miles and 500 feet of elevation gain) which usually takes a little bit over an hour. The terrain we'll walk on is paved road in the town, gravel road and trail on our way to the cave and paved stairway on the descent back to town.

Above Vela Luka, about an hour and a half walk from center of the town, you will find the highest peak of west part of Korčula island. On the top of the hill, overlooking the south Adriatic sea and more than thirty island is a fortress built by Habsburg empire. After exploring and finding out more about the fort, we descend to Pičena cove and walk along the coast of Vela Luka bay back to our starting point. It is possible to arrange for dinner/lunch at a restaurant in Pičena cove where you can also enjoy a swim or a short kayak tour. From the bay it is possible to get transfers back to town, either by a car or a boat.

The distance we will cover is about 10 kilometers, with 450 meters of altitude gain (about 6 miles and 1500 feet of elevation gain) which usually takes about 3 hours.
