About 180 km away from Tokyo, you will find a farming village with over 1,000 years of history at the edge of Japan’s largest alluvial fan at the base of the Nasu mountain range. While it is a countryside surrounded by rocky hills, the area was once ruled by a feudal lord and was a post station on the Oshu Kaido. Many famous poets visited this area too. In this tour, you will enjoy a slow, relaxing ride through this beautiful village area. Follow our guide who knows the area inside out and travel on quiet, narrow pathways and between rice fields. You will become a part of the unspoiled scenery of Japan featuring a neighborhood of old, traditional farmhouses. What you see along the way will become more interesting if you listen to our guide explaining the local history. The highlight of the tour is a vegetable harvesting experience hosted by a farmer, followed by a full-course lunch featuring fresh vegetables from the farm. You can take home the vegetables you harvested as a souvenir.
