Theyyam, is a dance ritual quite unique to the land of Northern Kerala. The chief performer is referred to as 'Theyyam' and is thought of as embodying the spirit of the deity during the performance. This ritual had its genesis among the tribal groups as a form of worship. The visuals is both impactful and magnificent. The adornments go so far as to add a certain gravitas to the whole event besides giving it an exquisite touch.
On this tour we will be visiting temple where the theyyam performance is held, we will interact with the performers, families and local to understand the significance of this cultural art.
