Galileo Galilei was born in Pisa but lived in Florence for many years. A court scientist of the powerful Medici family, later accused of heresy, forced to abjure and live the last years of his life, old and blind, in the villa Il Gioiello. Learn with us the life of Galielo and see the places where he lived and worked! We'll leave the historical center for a wonderful walk on the nearby hill of Arcetri, see one of the first observatory of Italy, the Villa where Galielo spent his last years and his daughters' convent. You'll be surrounded by wonderful panoramas all along the walk. Tour will end at Piazzale Michelangeloand for one last marvelous panorama. The route is about 8km (5 miles) long, with significat uphill (elevation gain around 500m/1640 ft.). Medium/easy type of route which takes place on paved road. Entrances are not included on this activity.
