When Christianity spread all around the land, this was the last stronghold for the Slavic gods. Later the name was transformed to Pirin. The mountain with its fortune of rivers, lakes, flora and wildlife gave a big inspiration for legends.Now Pirin is a national park, a part of UNESCO heritage.
