Nymindegab

Syddanmark (Southern Denmark)

Nymindegab

Nymindegab is a former fishing hamlet on the former outflow of the southern end of Ringkøbing Fjord in Southwest Jutland, Denmark. With a permanent population of 205, it is a popular tourist destination in the summer (1 January 2021). It is located in the municipality of Varde and is part of the Region of Southern Denmark. The village is located at the southern extremity of the Holmsland Dunes isthmus, which separates the fjord from the North Sea. Tipperne, a bird reserve on a peninsula in Ringkøbing Fjord, is located just northeast of Nymindegab.

There is a Nymindegab Museum in Nymindegab, where one may see a whalebone, photos from the area, and nature represented by artists who have remained in the area over time. Denmark's oldest lifeboat, which had been held in the National Museum of Denmark in Copenhagen since 1966 but was restored to Nymindegab in 1977, maybe seen at Nymindegab Rescue Station.
