Mudgee

Mudgee is one of Australia's finest wine towns, with award-winning wines and epicurean fare served in wineries nestled on rolling hills. Set on the banks of the picturesque Cudgegong River, the town retains all of its 19th century charm. Mudgee caters to all types of country visitors.

Mudgee, being an interior town, may have temperatures in the extremely high 30s throughout the summer (December through to the end of February). As a result, locals advocate going in October, when temperatures begin to rise but accommodation prices remain low.

In March, Mudgee takes full use of the springtime cold shift, starting off a year of nearly back-to-back events such as the Food and Drink Trail, Hot Air Balloon Festival, and Readers' Festival. The Mudgee Food and Wine Festival, a month-long epicurean feast celebrating local growers and restaurants with private dinners, open-air markets, live music, and more, kicks off the year in September.
