Fanø

The island of Fanø is located in the southwest of Denmark, approximately off the shore of Esbjerg. Many domestic tourists believe Fanø to be the greatest Danish island to visit, and foreign travelers are starting to take notice.

If you are staying in Esbjerg, a day excursion to Fanø is a must. It is also an island where you could easily spend an entire week just relaxing and enjoying the scenery: Fanø is famed for its beaches, historic buildings, artisan stores, and fauna that includes hundreds of seals, birds, and other species.

The weather is spectacular throughout the summer months of late June, July, August, and early September. But, of course, this is also when the majority of visitors visit, so Fanø may get congested in the summer. If you want to relax on the beach, this is not a problem because the island has such a long coastline that it doesn't matter how many people are present. However, if you want to go sightseeing, dine at restaurants, and stay at inns, it may be a bit pricey at times, and costs are higher than the rest of the year.
