SYRACUSE (ORTIGIA MARKET AND ARCHAEOLOGICAL PARK): Guided tour of the typical market of Ortigia, with its aromas, flavors, customs and colors, where sellers describe their products by singing lullabies in the local language. Continue in the heart of the ancient city, where between the alleys and alleys you can admire the Temple of Apollo, the Duomo and the Fonte Aretusa. This full-day tour will give you the opportunity to introduce visit two of the most beautiful Sicilian cities: Syracuse and Noto. Founded by the Greeks coming from Corinth in the VIII century B. C. , Syracuse was a metropolis of the ancient world that, over the centuries, had considerable political, religious and commercial importance, thanks to its strategic position in the Mediterranean. Homeland of artists, philosophers and men of science, Syracuse is the birthplace also of Pythagoras and Archimedes. In 2005, together with the Necropolis of Pantalica, it was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. We will visit the Greek theatre, the Roman amphitheatre, and the Ear of Dionysus. After visiting the older part of the historic centre of the island of Ortigia, we will enjoy an excellent lunch with sea view. Finally, we will visit Noto, one of south-eastern Sicily's UNESCO-listed baroque cities. Noto is famed for its opulent architecture and surfeit of beauty.

The ticket of the Neapolis Archaeological Park costs 13 euros per person. Free entrance under 18 and every first Sunday of the month.

During our guided walking tour of the Neapolis Archaeological Park I’ll show you, in chronological order, the Quarry of Paradise with the famous  Ear of Dionysius and the Cave of the Rope-makers, the Greek Theatre, the Altar of Hiero II (the largest in the world) and the Roman Amphitheater.

Continuation to Ortigia with the remains of the earliest Greek constructions and visiti of the Cathedral and the Fountain of Arethusa. Time free for lunch and proceed with the visit of the ancient town of Noto, the capital of baroque style in Europe. Return to Taormina.
